Our story

The Match

One swipe was all it took, I saw you and you had me hooked Immediately. I waited, agonisingly, but nothing!

And then a "bing", a match it said, and when I saw the thread,

My heart skipped a beat, because it was you who had returned the flame of heat.

Sat as a social man in an anti-social bar, I watched from afar,

Hoping to catch a glimpse of you leaving the car,

Walking under the stars, to meet me for our first hurrah.

But little did I know it was you who had stolen the march!

"Hello, sorry I'm late" came the words excitedly from over my shoulder,

And I turned to see the smile, the smoulder,

The one I'll love, always, as we get older.

We talked and talked, then walked and walked,

Traversing the crevices and cracks with care,

And a stare, from the small light on my phone to guide us there.

"Put it away!" you chastised! "You draw attention, do you want it stolen?!"

But I didn't think, didn't care, about any possession of mine I may lose,

Any cut or any bruise I may suffer,

Because your smallest trip or falter was all I cared to defuse.

Smoking Killed! Tequilas swilled!

Time stood still, the thrill,

As we played at maps and sat and stood with my arm on your waist.

We met new friends, experienced evil ends,

Navigated the hustle, oblivious to all the bustle,

All the while the tension building, as it was you I craved to taste.

Glasses clashed and sparks flashed before my eyes!

And I knew then that we would be nerds together, you and I.
